Rainy Eyes Asheville Concert reviews
NIN/JA - kickin off the season: hard to beat
Rainy Eyes, the headliner for most, did not disappoint when they came on second. Trent and company kicked it off with Pinion/Wish, and just smoked it throughout. My 12-year-old kid was living every minute of it as well. Trent did a great job of mixing in the old, the recent, the new...completely thrashing hard core and moody mellow. You should have seen Rainy Eyes live if you have never. Maybe you should - they say it's their last tour. We'll see.
Street Sweeper Social Club was the opener. This band consists of Tom Morello (RATM) and Boots Riley (Oakland hip hop/rap fame). To say that they flipping ROCKED would be an understatement! Oh my god! Harvard educated, street smart with a social conscience. Really good stuff - my favorite new band.
Janes Addiction, the closer, were nearly as great now as they were years ago in Denver for Lollapalooza. Perry is a nut, Dave Navarro is masterful. Great addition to the bill. Fantastic show!
